Place:
St Mary Street, High Wycombe (central), Bucks, St Mary Street, looking west
Content Notes:
Presence of the College of Further Education behind the derelict Old Factory would indicate the location of St Mary Street reasonably accurate Factory is that used by Harvey and Hudson, (employed by Nicholls and Janes) as shown in Ron Goodearl’s book, pp16 (HDC). This was reputed to be the site of the first chair factory in Wycombe.
Date:
about 1960
The derelict condition of The Old Factory (possibly a chairmakers) would suggest the date would be around when demolition was taking place for the Abbey Way elevated section, i.e. early 1960s.
