Collections

SWOP brings together major local photo archives, the Bucks Free Press, High Wycombe Library, Wycombe Museum, and the High Wycombe Society. It also features thousands of photos shared by residents, and SWOP is always keen to receive more historic photos of the area.

The BFP Collection in SWOP includes 27,000 photographs from the archives of the Bucks Free Press, a well-established local newspaper serving High Wycombe and Buckinghamshire. Most photos were taken by press photographers, notably Ron Goodearl’s extensive collection. The Bucks Free Press also has a large digital archive with issues of the paper dating back to the 1850s. The RHW Collection in SWOP comprises 6,800 photographs from the archives of the Reference section at High Wycombe Library.

The HWS and RPS Collections within SWOP include 4000 photographs from the archives of the High Wycombe Society and the Rye Protection Society.

The MHW Collection in SWOP comprises 2,400 photographs from the Wycombe Museum archives..

The SWOP Private (PRI) Collections feature 7,000 photographs generously loaned by residents. We’re constantly seeking more—if you have old photos of the area, we’d love to include them in SWOP and share them with the community.
